Charitable Raffle Rules
Raffle Information:
The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in partnership with the Maine Strong Memorial Foundation, is hosting a charitable raffle in accordance with MRSA/1837-A. The total value of non-cash raffle prizes is estimated to be $21,613.00.
Raffle Location and Timing:
The raffle will be conducted at the Auburn Senior Community Center (48 Pettengill Park, Auburn, ME 04210) and online at https://raffle.mainestrongfoundation.org/. It will commence at 12:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024 and end at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
Ticket Sales:
Tickets will be available for purchase online via the Levin Marketing Solution LLC platform (https://levinsolution.com), a State of Maine approved payment management system, from 12:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, until 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. Additionally, tickets can be bought in person at the Auburn Senior Community Center from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 and from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
There will be 26 different raffle prize packages, each consisting of unique items. Purchasers may enter their raffle tickets into any of the prize packages they are interested in winning. There will be one winner drawn for each raffle prize package.
Approved Purchasers:
For online purchases, buyers must allow GPS access through the online system and physically be within the state of Maine during the transaction. Only debit cards will be accepted; credit cards and prepaid cards will not be valid. In case the platform fails to recognize the payment method, the transaction will be declined, and the purchaser will be prompted to use an approved payment method. Purchasers must be at least 18 years of age.
On-site purchases require buyers to be at least 18 years of age and payments are exclusively accepted in cash. Credit cards or checks will not be entertained.
Prize Packages:
The raffle features 26 prize packages of varying value, totaling an estimated value of $21,613. Each ticket purchased can be placed into any of the available prize packages.
Ticket Price:
Tickets can be bought through an approved payment method for $0.50 per ticket, with a minimum payment amount of $5 for online transactions. From 12:00 AM October 2nd, 2024 through 8:00 PM October 7th, 2024, all raffle tickets will be half price; $0.25 raffle ticket.
Drawing:
The manual drawing to determine the winners of each prize package will take place at the Auburn Senior Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park, Auburn, ME 04210, on Sunday, October 13th, 2024, commencing at 4:00 PM.
Attendance at Drawing:
Winners need not be present at the drawing to claim their prizes.
50/50 raffle:
Raffle tickets are sold in which 50% of the proceeds are awarded in prizes. 50/50 pot of $9,500 with $4,750 going to the winner. Once that is achieved then the 50/50 would start again to a maximum of $9,500 with $4,750 to the winner. The final drawing on Sunday night would be based on the value of the pot at the closing at 3:00 PM. 50/50 entries will only be available online.
Referral Program:
Participants may earn additional raffle tickets by referring others to the raffle using their unique referral link. To qualify for additional raffle tickets, the referred participant must use the unique referral link provided by the referrer when making their purchase. No tickets will be awarded for referrals that do not follow this process.
Raffle tickets earned through referrals will be automatically assigned to the same prize packages that the referrer has previously selected or purchased. The allocation of referral tickets is random and final.
Referral tickets cannot be transferred to other prize packages once they have been assigned. All ticket allocations are final once processed.
Individuals who wish to participate in the referral program without making a purchase may register for a unique referral link by visiting https://raffle.mainestrongfoundation.org/register. This will allow them to refer others and earn additional tickets without making a purchase themselves.
Winner Notification and Prize Forfeiture:
Potential winners will be notified by email or phone within 24 hours of the drawing. If a potential winner does not respond within 2 days from the date of the notification attempt, or if an entrant is found to be ineligible or the prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited. An alternate winner will be selected by random drawing.
If a winner declines the prize, an alternate winner will be selected through a random drawing. If the alternate winner also declines the prize, the prize will be retained by the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation and will not be awarded.
Taxes and Prize Non-Transferability:
All taxes associated with the receipt of any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded. No substitutions or cash equivalents will be provided.
Publicity:
By accepting a prize, winners agree that the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Maine Strong Memorial Foundation may use the winner’s name, likeness, and any statements for promotional, advertising, and publicity purposes in any media without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
Tax Reporting for Prizes:
For prizes valued at $600 or more, or at least 300 times the amount of the wager, the winner must ensure the winner completes a Statement by Person(s) Receiving Gambling Winnings (Form 5754). The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation is required to file Form W-2G with the IRS and provide a copy to the winner in accordance with federal tax law.
